Duchesne Released Booking Photo Records
A booking photo is created during intake and remains tied to that booking episode. Release does not change the image into proof of what happened in court. Bond may end custody while charges remain pending. A later dismissal, acquittal, plea, or sentence appears in the court record, not in the photograph. A transfer can also close the local custody episode without returning the person to the community.
Utah law does not support the broad claim that every mugshot is automatically open. GRAMA, the Government Records Access and Management Act, begins with access to public records but also protects certain investigative, security, personal, juvenile, sealed, and other material. The Sheriff decides the record classification first, subject to the statutory process. Basic booking facts may be released even when the image is withheld.
Find Duchesne Released Inmate Mugshots
Duchesne County has an unusual channel mix because its official jail page provides facility details but no person roster, recent-release archive, photo gallery, or linked Sheriff mobile app. The absence of a county web photo makes a focused records request the main local route. State and registry sources apply only to defined groups.

VINELink may display identity or custody information supplied by a participating agency, but no Duchesne source reviewed confirms the county jail feed or promises a local booking photo. Do not treat VINE as a county mugshot archive. The source label must remain attached to any image found elsewhere.
No Duchesne Release Photo Gallery
As of the research date, the official Duchesne County Jail page publishes no inmate name search, booking image, 24-hour release view, 72-hour release view, archive, or release filter. No official Sheriff app offering inmate or release photos was verified in the county navigation. Another Utah county's app or a generic scanner app is not a Duchesne source.
This absence changes the search path. A recently released person cannot be recovered by stepping backward through an official Duchesne photo roster because no such roster was found. Call the jail at 435-738-0190 to confirm the correct records route, then make a narrow GRAMA request. Web retention cannot be guessed. The Sheriff Records page says most office records are kept ten years and some indefinitely, but that general statement is not a promise about a booking-photo series or public website. Ask the records officer which retention schedule and classification apply to the requested image.
Note: “Not posted online” means unavailable through that channel; it does not establish that the Sheriff never created or retained the photograph.
Request Duchesne Booking Photos
Duchesne County routes Sheriff records requests through its Electronic Records page and the Sheriff-specific NextRequest portal. A mailed request uses the Sheriff's GRAMA form destination at P.O. Box 985, Duchesne, Utah 84021. That differs from the jail's facility mailing box. Use the records form address for a mailed request.
- Identify the person by full name, aliases, approximate birth date if lawfully known, and the booking date range.
- Add the booking or court case number when known and state that the Duchesne booking photograph is requested.
- Request the photo separately from the booking-and-release log because the photo has added legal conditions.
- Sign the statement required by Utah Code § 17-72-802 concerning publish-for-pay use.
- Ask for an electronic copy and a current fee estimate before costs exceed a stated amount.
- If access is denied or redacted, ask for the record classification and statutory basis.
Utah Code § 63G-2-204 requires a written request with the requester's name, mailing address, daytime phone if available, and a reasonably specific record description. Duchesne says an ordinary request receives a response, denial, or extraordinary-circumstances notice within ten business days. Fees are paid in advance using the forms the county accepts. Current cost should be confirmed rather than inferred from an older schedule.
The Duchesne Sheriff records portal is the live online submission route.
The portal accepts the request, but it does not guarantee that a photograph is public. The Sheriff still applies GRAMA and the booking-photo statute.
Duchesne Mugshot Request Restrictions
Utah Code § 17-72-802 creates the distinctive local rule for a Sheriff booking photograph. A person who asks for a copy must sign a statement affirming that it will not be placed in a publish-for-pay publication or site. The Sheriff may not provide the photograph for that use. A photograph protected under GRAMA § 63G-2-305(80) may also be withheld.
The law has a limited view-only path for certain alleged victims or family representatives with prosecutorial consent. That path bars copying and dissemination. It does not create public access for every requester. A release log and some booking fields can be available even when the photo is not, so keep the request for the image distinct from the request for proof of release.
Duchesne's lack of an official web gallery makes these restrictions central, not incidental. The right question is whether the specific image is a releasable public record under current law. A requester should not assume that basic access to an arrest or release entry opens the full booking file.
Duchesne State Offender Images
The UDC Offender Search may show an identification image for a person currently under UDC supervision. UDC's scope includes prison, felony probation, and parole. It excludes a person merely awaiting trial in the Duchesne jail, and it may stop returning someone after full discharge. An image from UDC is a state corrections photo. It is not necessarily the photograph taken during a Duchesne County booking.
The Utah Sex and Kidnap Offender Registry is another official channel for a narrow group. A current registrant's record can include a photograph and registration details after release. That image should be called a registry photograph, not a jail mugshot, unless the official source itself identifies it that way. A registry hit proves only the current statutory registration record. It does not explain how the Duchesne jail episode ended.
Compare identifiers before treating either image as the same person. Then return to the Sheriff, UDC, Board, or court record for the custody and disposition question. Similar names and old photographs can lead to false matches.
Note: A UDC or registry photograph belongs to that state record and should not be relabeled as a Duchesne County booking image.
Duchesne Mugshots Beyond Agencies
A local news report or official press release may retain a photograph from the date of an arrest announcement. Preserve the publication date and original caption. The image proves that a source published it at that time. It does not establish present custody, final charges, or the later court result. Check the relevant Eighth District or justice-court case and the custodian's record.
Third-party archives may retain stale images, omit dismissals, confuse people with similar names, or describe a transfer as release. No commercial mugshot source is linked or endorsed. At most, an outside image can supply a possible booking date or number that leads back to an official request. If the official record conflicts, rely on the agency and court sources and report the limits.
Context matters. A picture tied to a federal case, registry entry, UDC record, or news story may not be the Duchesne County booking photo sought. Keep the arresting agency, date, booking identifier, and image source together.
Duchesne Mugshot Removal and Expungement
Utah expungement seals or restricts public access rather than physically destroying every record. Eligible cases may follow an automatic or petition-based path under Utah Code Title 77, Chapter 40a. When an effective order reaches the relevant agencies, a once-visible arrest, case, or photo can disappear from public tools. A no-result after that change should be described only as unavailable for public inspection.
Section 17-72-802 also regulates publish-for-pay operators. It generally requires removal and destruction within thirty calendar days after the subject's request and bars a condition above fifty dollars. When supported proof shows acquittal, nonprosecution, expungement, vacation, or pardon, the deadline is seven days and no fee may be demanded. The statute supplies enforcement remedies. It does not make every Sheriff photo public, and it does not authorize copying an image that the Sheriff withholds.
For an official source, send the sealing or expungement order to the office that maintains the record and follow its correction process. For a news image, contact the publisher under its own policy while supplying the final court record. Avoid any promise that one request removes every copy from every source.
A corrected or removed image does not by itself amend every linked record. The court clerk controls the court file, the Sheriff controls its booking record, and UDC controls its correctional record. Direct proof to each office that holds the material.
